Life has deadlines. A bad first draft is better than no first draft. You can’t edit an empty page. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of good. Oft repeated advice to my scientific writers.
hi Erika, I discovered your newsletter since I'm in your Substack Go group. I really liked this essay for how you show your vulnerability and how you transport the reader to what it's like to be a rookie thrown into a new situation on a tight deadline, with minimal support. It reminds me of writing advice I heard: focus not just on the story you want to tell, but on the experience you want to give the reader. You really transport the reader to feel the experience. Nice work! And I'm very impressed you make time to write this newsletter on top of your workload.

So happy for you! You might really enjoy this new experience!
